Navigating the Electric and Natural Gas markets can be a difficult and time-consuming task. Rock River Energy Services has been working these markets for since 2005 and have helped thousands of commercial and residential customers find the best rates and terms for their energy needs.

Electricity Procurement

Since 2001 Illinois has had a deregulated electricity market, which allows customers of ComEd and Ameren (in our area) to choose who provides their electricity supply. No matter who you select as a supplier, ComEd and Ameren will continue to deliver electricity to you, service your account for any issues you may have, and bill you.

Rock River Energy Services works with the electric and natural gas energy suppliers in the area to provide our commercial and industrial customers with the best prices and terms for their needs. We monitor supply prices daily and solicit bids for you. We know our customers’ needs and usage patterns and know when best to bid. Although we normally lock in long term contracts, we can modify the contracts if your needs change. We will remain in contact and alert you about six months before your contract ends.

Residential customers may be best served through Community Electrical Aggregation programs.

Natural Gas Procurement

Natural gas market prices change every day, making it difficult to know whether you should choose Fixed Prices or Index Prices. Most customers want the best price, which is where we come in.

Fixed Prices are based on a fixed rate and do not change, making it easy to establish a stable budget. However, if prices drop, you making be paying more than necessary.

Index Prices are are tied to the energy market and will change over time as the market prices change. Market prices go down, you save money. Market prices go up, you may spend more.

Knowing if Fixed or Index is the best choice for you can be difficult, that’s where we come in. With our approach you can have the benefits of both. Our electric and natural gas teams monitor the markets every day. While most of our contracts are index, they can be converted to a fixed rate if necessary.

Demand Response / Energy Curtailment

In times of stress due to a spike in energy demand, or a drop in supply, PJM or MISO (ComEd and Ameren grid operators) use demand response to curtail energy use to avoid blackouts or brownouts.

Customers can take advantage of incentive-based programs to save money by curtailing or shifting energy usage during these peak load times. Demand Response programs are increasingly important as weather conditions continue to change.
